‘Over The Ocean’ is about suddenly feeling a shake in the scenery around you what once felt stable and comfortable. It’s about realising you’re not happy on your little boat, and that maybe the ferocious ocean is a safer and better option than staying on the boat.
LYRICS
There was a moment where I felt the way the wind blew
Down south and over the ocean
Over the ocean
And at that time I touched and felt where you left me
Down south and over the ocean
Over the ocean
And I
Still feel your hands and the cold that you left when you let go
You let go, you let go
And I Still close my eyes and hang my head in prayer for you
And at that moment where I felt the way wind blew
Down south and over the ocean
Over the ocean
I knew you were not returning from the horizon
Long ago and far away
And over the ocean
And I
Still feel your hands and the cold that you left when you let go
You let go, you let go
And I Still hold my breath the way you always told me to
Cause you’ll ‘be back soon’
Should I start swimming?
Should I start swimming?
Should I start swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming
There was a moment where I felt the way the wind blew
Down south and over the ocean
Over the ocean
All you left was cold and an echo on the surface
Long ago and far away
And over the ocean
And I
Still feel your hands and the cold that you left when you let go
You let go, you let go
And I
Still hold my breath the way you always told me to
Cause you’ll ‘be back soon’
Should I start swimming?
Should I start swimming?
Should I start swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming

‘Over the Ocean’ felt like my first real song, and it was honestly such a joy to develop in a studio setting. Feels like a million years ago. Can you tell I was obsessed with Vera Blue?
