Bares is front run by Ella Sterland, and has been her public diary of sorts, having released music under this project since 2017. Bares isn’t new to the pop scene, having already released 14 tracks over the last 4 years, with a steady 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Her 2020 EP ‘Overdue’ has made big waves in the Melbourne live scene, with the track ‘Calendars’ finding radio love on Triple R, and Triple J unearthed, as well as securing a runner up position with the Listen Up Songwriting Prize. Bares has an evolving and fluid sound inspired by soul/RnB queens like Nai Palm and Lianne la Haves, and lush synthpop chart-toppers like CHVRCHES and Betty Who. Bares and Skyepaint joined forces last year with Pipedream, a fan favourite that accumulated over 20,000 streams on Spotify within the first month with no campaign, critics saying it was a match made in synth-wave heaven

Bares has been performing live for years, alongside acts like Sir Jude, Velvet Bloom, Jade Alice, Romanie, Jazure, Zachery Leo, Travalley, Butternut Sweetheart, Seb Szabo, Ben Trillado, Holly Hebe, Rachel Maria Cox, The Night, and Skyepaint
